Job Description

Principal Electrical Engineer

Our client is a leading renewable energy engineering firm specializing in commercial and industrial (C&I), PV+ESS, and microgrid project design, engineering, and consulting. They provide expert services to electrical contractors, energy developers, and municipalities, offering engineering solutions from initial feasibility to full permit and construction plan sets. As a trusted industry partner, they also provide power studies, system modeling, and technical education to support best practices in the solar
and energy storage sector.


The Principal Electrical Engineer will play a leadership role in consulting on and designing complex solar-plus-storage and microgrid projects ranging from 250kW to 15MW . This position requires deep technical expertise, strategic vision, and the ability to mentor a team of engineers while ensuring high-quality standards across all projects. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in renewable energy engineering, problem-solving capabilities, and a passion for driving innovation in solar and energy storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of advanced Solar PV + ESS solutions, ensuring industry best practices and innovation.
  • Project Oversight: Manage complex, high-impact projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring high-quality execution.
  • Team Mentorship: Provide technical oversight and mentorship to senior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Client Engagement: Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to define project objectives and identify new growth opportunities.
  • Industry Representation: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and forums to stay ahead of emerging trends and technologies.
  • Strategic Development: Establish technical strategies and drive continuous improvement initiatives to refine engineering processes and methodologies.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 15+ years of experience in renewable energy engineering, with a strong track record in PV + ESS project development.
  • Licensing: Electrical or Structural PE License (EIT candidates with a clear path to PE certification will also be considered).
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience in medium voltage system design (4kV–35kV) is preferred.
  • Software Skills: AutoCAD proficiency is a plus.
  • Problem-Solving & Innovation: Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities to drive creative solutions in system design and optimization.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to manage relationships with project stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project objectives and regulatory requirements.

Salary Range: $115-160k
