LOS TACOS No. 1 is an expanding restaurant group with multiple locations in Manhattan serving Mexican tacos in a vibrant atmosphere. The company started after three close friends from Tijuana, Mexico, and Brawley, CA realized the need for truly authentic Mexican tacos on the East Coast. The company is passionate about making every guest at LOS TACOS No. 1 feel like they have been transported to Mexico when they step into our restaurant.
Cooks are the heart of LOS TACOS No. 1 providing our guests with the highest and most authentic tacos in New York City! There are a few different cook stations ranging from despatcha (dispatcher/ taco assembly), parilla(griller) and trumpero/a(trumpo builder and carver). All cooks and stations must have a key attention to detail ensuring we provide all guests with the accurate and best quality tacos in NYC!
Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet the customers with “ Bienvenido’s” and a smile
- Maintain cleanliness of the restaurant and follow all food safety and Health & safety guidelines
- Take pride in serving guests and providing exceptional customer service
- Completes other duties as assigned by the MOD( Manager on Duty)
- Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and cutting meat etc.)
- Ensure great presentation before serving our product
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Check the quality of ingredients/ FIFO
- Monitor stock supply to ensure no shortage during rush hour and no over grilling during downtime
- Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment, and dishes
- Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment
Qualifications & Requirements
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Heavy Lifting 50lbs+
- Ability to multitask and prioritize task
- Experience as a cook, ideally 2+years
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Ability to work in a team
- Knowledge of safety procedures, including safe temperatures at which ingredients must be kept and to which food must be prepared to avoid food-borne illnesses
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to stand in one place for hours at a time, handle extreme heat and work shifts
